sat here on the laptop. sssssssssssssssss. commuter bike suddenly has a puncture in the rear tyre. i'd not long oiled the chain, so it's messy (and the bike is filthy), and the full length rear mudguard doesn't help either.

shoot

but…

it happened at home, with tools and items to prop the bike up without scratching it, and is all done quickly. not like it would have been if it had happened on the way home.

have i been lucky, or unlucky?

If it was a puncture you would have had any way, you were lucky. On the other hand, perhaps the puncture fairy knows where you live...

Touch wood I'm pretty luck when it comes to p'tures. My commuter tyres (conti contacts)have done 5,500 mls and they've had only one (ironically when they were new). The 4 seasons on my winter bike have had none in 3000 mls and the conti grand prix have had 1 snakebite in 2,300mls. I've been outside when it has happened but luckily the weather has been good. I'll probably get one or more  tomorrow now and the weather will be cr@p .
