Posted out to the ride's participants earlier this evening (we're now a group of 8 rather than 9):-
Good evening everyone.
I've bcc'ed you all for privacy reasons.
Thanks for signing up for the ride, I hope you enjoy it.
We're a small group (9 in total) so, hopefully, we'll make reasonable progress.
Please check your bikes over before tomorrow paying particular attention to the tyres.
Also make sure that your lights are fully charged. It's going to be a fairly short night but there are some very dark spots en route where you'll need to be able to see where you're going.
If you've read the ride description you'll know that there are hills.
I'm going to climb them at a steady rate to keep the group relatively compact but, if you want to go off the front, ask me and I'll tell you where you can and where to stop. This will be after Edgworth; until then I'd like us to keep together. If you do go ahead, please be aware that you'll have to wait for the rest of us to catch up.
I'm estimating that we'll get to the refreshment stop at around 03.00 and we can have a leisurely break there since the breakfast venue doesn't open until 08.00 and the new route that I've devised is shorter than we've used previously.
I'm planning to arrive at Victoria Station at around 23.30. The meeting place is opposite Cafe Java next to the memorial to the MEN bombing.
If you're riding through the city centre, please be wary of the tram tracks and either cross them at as near to 90 deg. as possible or get off and walk. The same may well apply to sand as we cycle down the Promenade towards Blackpool Tower..
Finally, unless I think of something else, please keep the noise down when we regroup; sometimes we'll stop near houses so I'd like to keep the disturbance to the minimum.
If you have any questions, please ask away.
Andrew
