Here is a picture of the damage - I've decided that it must have been my glasses which did it as it fits the frame line perfectly.

11 stitches and quite a bit of bruising. Not much to see on my arm or shoulder - just a load of bad road rash.

Bike has a broken armrest cup plus scratched brake lever and bar-end shifter. Wheels are miraculously true. Garmin says impact speed was 44km/h and then the bike accelerated to 65km/h!

My kit was covered in blood, it took a long time to clean up my face in A&E, and I hear that the blood on the road makes it obvious that somebody has been scraped up! ;)

Sadly I'm still a student, but we're off to Coniston tomorrow, so I can show most of my coursemates. It has become a bit of a running joke that I crash every few months.

Why is it these scars never occur accross the cheek in action man style!!

Hope you recover soon, looks like a stinger!
(also hope that repairing the bike armrest won't cost much)
