What sort of speed difference?
Bit difficult to tell at the moment, as I've only ridden it whilst low on energy (still Ramadhan at the moment). Consequently, haven't been able to commute on it, but I'll see what difference there is when I do.

Nice Maz.
While you are low on energy you 'need' to do two things:
a) take that plasticky bit off from behind the cassette on the posh bike.
Oops. I'd never noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out.
Do I just cut off the plastic with a sharp knife? Doesn't seem to be any other way...

You don't - it protects your spokes from being bent/smashed if the gears go too far off the big cog at the back, and into the wheel (theoretically)

Granted, it looks rather silly though.

Looks great - to remove the plastic thingy, just remove the cassette - you know how to do that.....:hungry:

Keep it clean..looks the business, or else, I'll be round

That plastic disk is really starting to bug me. I think I will remove it.
Cheers.

Just a thought Maz, has anyone ever done the Mecca thing on a bike?
Hehe. Doubt it. Anyone going on the pilgrimage has to apply via an approved travel agent and travel with them.

I'd have to settle for biking it to my local Mecca Bingo.
