Here's one then; a naval man meets and falls in love with a widow who lives on the coast. They get married and he goes back to sea. The woman's son has a cat that has given up being a cat and waits to be fed, losing all cat-like insticts about catching mice and the like. The boy's senses are offended and he offs the cat reckoning if it can no longer be a cat, it doesn't justify it's place in the world. Then the sailor comes back from his voyage and when it's time to go back on his ship, he decides his love for his new wife is greater than that of his love for the oceans. the boy has to make a decision.
