As you will have found looking at other posts on this forum and others, before you start on your 600 mile overseas tour, do a two day, one night tour from your home.

First is your overseas tour type is it:
  • A credit card tour, where you cycle by day and your gear get carried from hotel to hotel.
  • Or would it be a B&B tour, where you carry a change of clothes and a toothbrush from B&B to B&B.
  • Or a full on camping tour where you carry the sleeping bag, tent, stove and kitchen sink.
All variations have their pluses and minuses

Which ever variation, you want to replicate it in the UK first over a weekend.
You cycle from your home (or if you live in the middle of a city, get a train 30 miles out)
Cycle for 30 miles with all the gear you will be carrying
Go to a place where you will be spending the hight
Then cycle 30 miles home the next day

Make a note of what you have used, and what you have not, and what you should have had but did not.
Next weekend repeat to a different area/night stop
You will now have a lot less kit

Try something like The Way of the Roses or the Trans Pennine Trail for your first outing. Great fun, not too difficult and close to home.
