Obviously if he was telling the truth and can prove he was in Mexico, then he will be able to go to court and get redress for wrongful dismissal. Surely the reported word of a journalist would be considered insufficient grounds for dismissal if he could prove that the guy was either mistaken or deluded? And with tickets and passport control records, proving your where abouts to no better accuracy than 'to the nearest continent', should be possible on any given dates.
Once he has established wrongful dismissal, he will surely have grounds for a civil claim to recover his potential earnings that have vanished since his dismissal ?
