Good to see the coal hammer was 'part of the team': shock action!

It was an integral part of the team. As was a block of wood (not shown in photos).

I have losened a pedal a few times by supporting the crank directly at the pedal: bike against a wall, block(s) wood under the pedals, turn the crank until it rests on the block, then a sturdy key 15 over it, then push, hammer, foot on it, ...
Because the problem is that crank, axle, drivetrain absorb force / shocks, while it should be concentrated on the cranks pedal eye alone.

What way round are you using the spanner? Assuming it's not a "straight" spanner.

Are spanners sexualised too! What is going on in my tool box?
Should I invite them to tell me how they identify before taking them out of the box

Totally frivolous. I'm in post pedal removal euphoria.
