SPD pedals wanted.

Having brought some Aldi cycling shoes,cleats from ebay,i'm now after a CHEAP pair of spd pedals,nothing special needed just a basic pair will be fine as i've never used them before so might not get on with em.

Even better I've used Absolute myself without any issues.
Point being it seems the 2nd hand market for such pedals is shot to $hit with the price they are selling them for new. If I had some to sell and saw these prices for new ones I'd just lob mine in a draw as spares.

What sort of cleats has he got? Why would you buy cleats before you bought pedals? Are they compatible with Shimano pedals?

He asked for SPD pedals to go with his Aldi...Do SPD/Shimano cleats vary? I have Wellgo pedals & cleats which are fine with the Shimano pedals on the other bike.

I only suggested that you could get the pedals cheaper in response to someone else suggesting the same pedals!

I have no idea why he bought the cleats before the pedals, you'd need to ask him.

Personally, I would buy SPD/platform pedals for starters rather than dual sided ones if you are not sure and gives the flexibility of just using trainers rather than always cleated shoes.

Calm down dear!!! Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like a criticism, although re-reading it it does look a bit that way.

Only kidding, but no, not all cleats are compatible with all SPDs. You shouldn't mix multi-release cleats with single direction pedals for example (or it may be the other way round.)Time, Atac, Crank Bros SPD style pedals all have different shaped cleats.

The reason i brought the cleats first is because my wife has spd pedals but she does'nt have the shoes,cleats etc so i was going to nick her pedals to save a bit of cash,but she has now decided when she gets her bike back from the LBS she's goin to get shoes an cleats as well,hence me needing pedals now

Be fine getting the M520 pedals from absolute then...as others have said, you could have saved a few quid buying together...hindsight's fab innit
