132-3 and looking reasonably comfortable.

two rash shots saw off Lyth and Bell, Cook unlucky.

They have to bat on and see out tomorrow - time is NOT an issue: occupation of the crease is.

They want to be looking at a lead of 200+ but who knows, when batsmen get that 'rush of blood to the head.'

The Bell end!
Though to be fair, what he did well he did very well. I guess he just wanted to reach the Aussie's total with a big 6. And skied it with what looked to be a premeditated shot to a ball that wasn't bowled as quickly as he'd premeditated it.

So, same old story: more than a glimpse of his ability but not enough of that ability going onto the scorecard.

Jimmy Anderson superb today. Adam Lyth out of his depth, Ian Bell excellent 50, dreadful shot to get out

Apart from winning the Ashes singlehandedly (well, not quite) when the Aussies were last here, Bell has often just underperformed.
It's farking frustrating as he is sublime to watch.

Yeah, my comment is a little unfair, though early on I remember there being comments that despite scoring tons he hadn't really done so when the team really needed it. Scored a few when the top order had already fired pretty well...

Aussies all out for 136 – England 132 for 4 and trail by 4 runs

Tricky to make out what is going on in this test series – Brilliant performance in the first test by England against possibly undercooked Aussies – England win by a lot - 2nd test England cannot buy a wicket on a slow pitch and concede zillon runs - Aussie bowlers are sending down cannonballs with new ball in both innings and blow England away and win by more than a lot

3rd test – England bowl out Aussies for not a lot on a decent pitch with a bit of carry and movement off the seam – Aussie bowlers are shadows of their selves on a pitch which should suit them and of the three wickets they have taken two are gifts and the third is a fluke

England bowled well yesterday – creating doubts in the Aussie batmen’s minds and causing them to play or leave balls they should not have –only Rodgers seemed to have the technique and concentration to survive – Finn bowled well, Anderson bowled brilliantly, Broad carried on from where he has been in the other two tests – bowling well and thoughtfully – the inclusion of Finn allied with the frequent rain breaks allowed England to rotate the bowlers and keep the pressure on the Aussies – In England innings Lyth unfortunately continued to look suspect and went flashing a long way outside his off stump – Cook played well until he got out to a fluke catch by Vosges at short leg – you have to assume that as he was not carted off to hospital that he was wearing some form of chest protection – Bell played well for his 50 and probably did enough to survive the cut until recklessly heaving at Lyon – Root is toddling along nicely – Bairstow is the experiment and didn’t face many balls before the rain came back and play ended

Today the weather is supposed to be better – no idea how it is going to go - Aussies to regroup and carry on from where they were in the second test or England to push on and put the Aussies under pressure as they did in the first test – Funny old game ^_^
