Some good films there and the great escape is a good film, its all about personal choice though. Its impossible to name 1 film that's the best,
I love westerns but could pick 4 or 5 that are equally great.Even the old black n white movies, and through to todays movies from quinten tarrrentino.
But if I had to pick 1 it would have to be the classic How green is my valley..a great sunday afternoon film.

What about "Some like it hot"?

It was only a TV series, bit I'm not quite sure a film version of 'It Ain't Half Hot, Mum' would have been, err, a classic.

All these will glue me to the sofa too:
Ice Cold in Alex
The Longest Day
A Bridge Too Far
My fave would have to be "Ice Cold in Alex". Brilliant film, very tense with great acting particularly from John Mills and Anthony Quayle. The bar sequence in Alex was used forty years later in a Carlsberg commercial and earned the actors considerably more than they were paid for the film!
