I have just donated my pair to a friend, but he can't afford £2.99 *for each band* given that he needs 8. Does anyone have a random stash of these?

Have to say I found the rubber strips annoying and likely to move/rot/fall off ... just use some very thin zip-ties (Poundland .... ) to fix the guards.

I've cut strips off old inner tubes for all kinds of stuff. Might be worth a try.

Some good ideas there, thanks, will pass them onto my mate. Especially like the O ring idea. Cheap and effective by the sound of it.
