What ever happened to ........

OK we know things like typewriters or the choke on the car were taken over by a better idea, but what about all those little things that were there and then suddenly were gone for no reason?

(Not looking for answers but more examples)

To start off then-
What ever happend to the little strap thing that people used to attach under the back of their car that touched down on the ground (some sort of earthing thing).
A few years ago almost half the cars around had them and now i dont see any.
