£600 budget - what bike?

Hi

Got back into road bikes after hiring a Kuota Korsa lite in Majorca whilst on holiday this year (my front sus MTB feels like riding a bouncy castle now)

Doing about 2-3 rides a week on my bouncy castle (mostly on Tarmac ironically) ranging between 15 - 25 miles as time runs out before legs do. So looking to be doing say 75-100 miles / week on road bike.

Got £600 to spend on new bike - welcome any thoughts but have looked at Ribble which seem to offer good vale and pondering 7005 vs 7046 sportive (would it be better to go for 7005 and upgrade to Tiagra 10spd rather than the lighter 7046 frame ( budget limits me from 7046 and Tiagra)

LBS chap at edin coop recommended Genesis Volant as best option that they do - how does this compare?

Brand not most important thing for me so don't feel need to go for specialized / Trek et all unless it's the best option

If you could stretch another £100 you could get a defy 1. The defy rides nice.

Giant Defy is a great starter bike.

Cracking bike - great deal - just need to work out way of convincing SWMBO that extra £100 budget (which started at £500 initially) is a great idea
