It is the social miles that let me down I do not seem to be able to motivate myself to get myself out at weekends, I love commuting but is helps that it is a ride with a purpose. I have done 3000 miles since 1st of June, 99.9% commutes. Will wait until spring and will see how I feel about a bit of social weekend stuff, last summer my legs were not up for it at weekends!

Get yourself along to a club or group ride.
I hate riding solo.....

You sound a lot like me in this respect. I am slightly in the 'why would you do that' camp when it comes to cycling and gym visits. I will gladly cycle a +20 mile round trip to call at a shop but find it hard to motivate myself to do the same for a leisure ride. Any trip with a purpose is fair game but I have found the forum rides are great for stretching your horizons, pushing your limits and meeting great like minded folk. (EDIT: and eating cake!)

I am within sight of my goal of 3,650 miles for the year. I have just over 29 miles to do between now and the end of the year, so one commute and I am done.
That was my original target after falling just short last year (50 miles or so)
But with all the extra forum rides it was nearly done by August, so Colinj said 'why don't you go for 100 miles per week'? So that has been my focus since, still 130 miles short with no more commutes to do.
Passed the 5000 barrier last week, so I'm happy with that, and there's still a chance I'll get out a few more times if the weather stays kind.

Each to his own - I love riding solo because of the freedom it gives you (but do also enjoy group riding.) Can't beat you though for total - had hoped to get to 10,000, but have ended up at 9,000, with c.6,000 of those being solo 'leisure' miles. But then Devon scenery is so tempting... Maybe next year, and better weather...
