so what's the deal with spacers if you run a 10 speed cassette on a new 11 speed hub?

most are supplied with a 1.85mm spacer, however, all Shimano 10 speed cassettes also come with a thin 1mm spacer - should this be used as well?
On the web it looks like 50/50 people saying use both spacers or just the thicker spacer.

There will usually be a spacer supplied with the hub, and another spacer with the 10 speed cassette, fit them both. If you fit a 9 speed cassette, you'll only need to fit the spacer supplied with the hub.

You'll know if it's wrong, the cassette will be loose and rattle on the hub!

Alternatively, if you get it wrong in another way, you won't be able to tighten up the cassette lock nut because none of the threads will engage. BTW, the actual position of the cassette on the hub isn't that critical. Just adjust the upper and lower limit screws on the rear mech so that the chain fits well on the biggest and smallest cogs.
