Ok, so it's only taken me a couple of months to build up cycling fitness / find a week where "life" didn't get in the way, but provided I make it home in one piece today this will be my first full week of commuting on the cycle.

30 mile daily round trip so quietly chuffed at 150 miles in a week before I think about a weekend ride too.

I know there are lots of people who manage this distance each week, and to be honest I'm reasonably fit anyway so it should always have been achievable.... but it still feels good to have finally reached this milestone

...... the downside being that the weather forecast for later looks pants, and my rain dodging good luck looks set to run out this afternoon

Every walk starts with a step. Every dedicated commuting cyclist starts with a full week of cycling in.
2 things
1) measure your resting heart rate, and see it reduce over the next year or two.
2) Measure and take photos of your leg diameter and belly, and watch them either reduce or increase (as applicable) over the next 6 months (quicker improvements).

This will help you feel REALLY smug about yourself, and help you through the bad weeks/days.

Yes, it's going to be heavy rain for hours, just arriving in Swindon now.

SNAP! and in Surrey too so going to get wetter than yesterday afternoon! Found it quite invigorating the rain, except for the lack of braking power..

Ha ha, cheers all.

Hey Loco, where do you commute to? Your distances look rather similar to mine!

Somehow managed to stay dry all this week - don't think it's going to last.....

yikes! my legs feel tired after a 50-60 mile commute each week.

absolutely well done!

Ha ha - don't get me wrong - legs well and truly knackered - I find it hard to give up my natural tendency to go flat out everywhere

Club run tomorrow morning isn't looking hopeful

Better than me - felt like I swam home and took 1 hour 7 - by far the longest my commute has taken me to date!

Am a bit further West than you - Surbiton way but about the same distance.
