Use WD40 to shift grime then make a wad of aluminium foil and rub on the rust. Because aluminium is more reactive than iron, the iron oxide is turned to aluminium oxide - a silvery paste which helps to disguise where the chrome is missing. It is less abrasive than Brillo pads and removes the rust easily. Then buff up with a cloth and apply car wax as a protective

Lovely bike btw!
Similar to my summer project - Raleigh hercules balmoral (1772). Nearly finished - I have spent all summer taking it completely to bits and carefully cleaning each part and reassembling. Just got the mud and chain guards left to do.

That should say 1972 - bloody iPads and fat fingers!
