Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone could help me identify the model of this Holdsworth I picked up recently as a summer run around? The serial number under the BB indicates it's a 1984, but I can't find the catalogue for that year online. Catalogues either side would suggest possibly Mistral, but it doesn't have a lamp boss or rear carrier bosses on the seat stays which I think it should have (they could have been removed obviously). Stickers indicate it's a 531 ST with 531 forks.
Paint is a bit dodgy in places but it rides really nicely. It's been retrofitted with a late 90's 105 3x9 group. The wheels are nice (Ambrosio Giro d'Italia rims with 105 hub (rear) and Sachs new success hub (front)). It's also got a nice Cinelli stem and Cinelli 64-40 Giro bars. Bit of a mash up then.
Cheers,
Ali

Definitely not a majestic or Mistral, this is something much more special.
No lamp boss or rack braze ons for this sleek lady. It's no 'cloth cap lurcher bitch' commuter.

hanging-on in quiet desperation ...
1983 Specs - so would be closest to a Mistral:

BUT! The clearances are too tight for a 'Touring' bike and as stated no braze-on for the fork for a lamp.

However - Holdsworth also made custom frames, so it's not impossible it was a special order.
Also when money was tight they make bikes from whatever they had in the workshop!

The main thing is that it's very pretty and if it rides well (as it should), then enjoy :-)

Thanks for your replies all! Much appreciated. It certainly is a nice bike. Was just curious of the model really but it sounds like it could be a custom. I'll definitely enjoy riding it whatever it is :-)
