If you want the best car boot sales ever, try going to one in Jersey. Had a week over there recently and came back loaded down with designer clothing, antiques and bike stuff. This included an essentially unused pair of Scott road shoes (too small for us so destined for EBay) and two pairs of unused slicks (City Jets as I recall) for a quid a pair. Every CBS and charity shop on the island has at least one pair of cycling shoes for sale, at dirt cheap prices.

This is what annoys me. If the don't fit you let someone else pick up the bargain. Life isn't always about making a few quid.

Anyone sold at a car boot before? Might give it a go to clear out unwanted stuff around the house.
What stuff sells well?
used to do a lot of car booting, to the point where i was emptying relatives lofts etc but gave up in the end as i got fed up of standing all day with people offering you 50p for items worth 20 times that ,along with certain people after mobile phones, jewelry and trying to pinch your stock.

People trying to nick your stuff, that sounds pretty depressing.

I picked up a Ladies Triumph TraficMaster minus a front wheel last week for £7.77.
It is now undergoing a rebuild for my daughter.

Its genuinely a nice sentiment, but its one thats impossible to know whether youve done the right thing by passing it by, or just turned it down for it to be thrown away....so you just buy it and dont worry about it.
This weekends bargain, the mudguards...it was the end of the day for many, i was just walking past and she shouted ''everything on the table...£1'
Ive known enough people who do a boot sale...then throw away whats left, usually on the premise, if you cant sell it on a carboot, its not worth ANYTHING'
One regular carboot i used to go to had skips, the stuff that used to get thrown in there at the end of the day...

And then sometimes...i reserve the right to buy something with the aim of making a profit.
And then sometimes...as occasionally happens, i buy something, then GIVE it away, like some bits donated to friends, family...and even CC members.

True, but my guess is that they knew those shoes where worth something and wouldn't just throw them in a tip.

This is one hell of an assumption. Were you there? What do you know about the attitudes and economy on Jersey? Did you talk to the lady on the stall? It was two thirds of the way through the morning, those shoes had sat on the table in full view of anyone who cared to look and there were no takers. We looked at them, they were size 36, which is tiny, as was the lady selling them, but they had a pair of almost unused Look Delta cleats on them. When I said they were the cleats I used the seller said that I could have the shoes and cleats for two quid and that if we couldn't use the shoes we could take the cleats off and bin the shoes. I wasn't intending to post the full story but this response has frankly p***ed me off. End of.
