Set both laptops up so they're on the same network, dedicate one laptop as a print "server" and share the printer. Make sure "server" is on before trying to print from other laptop.

You need a printer auto sharing switch. If they're both docking stations then presumably one of you might not be there, meaning Andy's print server advice won't work in this case. If you're both there at the same time it will.
Thanks.

What will happen if I try a USB hub backwards?
Haven't a clue - but I was thinking of the old tech two-computers-to-one-printer cables you used to be able to get ..... and came across things like this ------ seems like a USB Switch Box may be a back-to-front USB Hub (wired up right )?

This the simple answer but all you need to do is share the printer and then install it as a new network printer on the second machine.
