Yes, I'm a bit disappointed with this one. My 2010 tricross sport was "taken out " by a motorist and is costly to repair. I am eagerly awaiting the new tricross sport, but have been told by the LBS that it will be using sora gearing instead of tiagra. It will be a yucky blue colour and i'm now thinking maybe purchase from wiggle instead!!!!!!

If you PM me with your email address I will send you pics of the Sport Disc and the Elite Disc as well as full specs for both on an Excel doc.

I'm going to test ride an Elite on Saturday morning.

Let us know how it goes Globalti, I have just had an e-mail back from the lbs to say they have no Tricross for a demo ride, but do have a 56cm one in stock they could build for me but would only be able to have a go around the car park.
So a too big bike on a 5 minute 50 yard circle, ermm 'I'm out'

Time to find another bike shop.

My local bike shop is letting me have their flagship tourer for a weekend to test ride it. How good it that?

forgot to mention...... there will be two versions. one with disk brakes and a steel fork, or normal brakes and alluminium fork.

Disc brake version = design FAIL as rear caliper is behind seat stay and not inside the rear triangle so mounting a rear rack is hopeless. Do the front forks have mounts for low loaders? Apart from this major fail and one question mark it seems ok.

I am convinced that the kids back in Taiwan that design 99% of bikes don't ride bikes everyday.

It's hardly a fail. There's disc specific rear racks available. Front low loaders are not an essential fitting and I'd not lose sleep over the absence of front mounting bosses.

Which are flawed in engineering terms creating a huge turning point on any bolt or cast dog leg on the rack just to avoid the brake caliper which could have easily been placed inside the rear triangle. So design FAIL if you want to mount a rack as most cyclists at some point do.

You say racks. I only know of the Topeak Super Tourist disc specific rack. What are the other makes?

It would only cost another couple of dollars, if that, for the frame builder to place the disc mount inside the rear triangle rather than behind the seat stay making it impossible to give a strong and robust rack mount.

The Boardman CX has got it right. Some one thought long and hard for 10 seconds about this issue and made the right decision.
