I`m afraid best for me is 17.5mph average doubt I can reach 20mph due to traffic lights etc and the hills, will give it a try though

. Fixed gear does limit me a wee bit on the flats!

I managed 22mph on my 23m commute once, rolling average though. No chance of repeating that on the way home with 350m of climbing.

22mph! Is that a rural commute? Off the top of my head I reckon there's at least 14 traffic lights, and 1/2 a dozen pedestrian Xings on my commute.....if they were all green (never gonna happen!) or I jumped reds (usually doesn't happen!) my ave speed would be up there.

I have no illusions about lights in London commuting, I plan routes to avoid them and they're still legion

With traffic the way it is in London. I have no hope of achieving a 20mph avg. So well done to you...

I hear that!! When I ride through the centre of London my average on a 3.5 mile ride drops from 14-15mph to 8-10mph
