I've done seven of them which is, by my reckoning, at least six more than the writer of the article has sampled. I doubt that she left her desk to sample any of the pie shops whose press releases and telephone interviews she's abridged.
Edit: I've had a closer look and all she has done is pick a random sample of pie shops/emporia mentioned on Facebook, Trip Advisor and Instagram.
It's some of the laziest journalism that I've come across. Some of the writing rang alarm bells. She's even used some of the text from her earlier pie review of the best pie shops in Yorkshire. (I've done six of them)
The pie shop in Leicestershire is far from the best around, however they are great at manipulating media and self promotion. They end up on telly and in print much more than their produce deserves.
I've only done the Hull Pie. I've never felt the need to go any further, and despite that I always have difficulty deciding which one (or two ) to get.
Wilson of Leeds (presumably they mean Wilsons of Cross Gates)? A valid entry few years ago maybe, but the last couple I've had from there have been middling at best, much as it pains me to say it...
