Took the Cannondale Hybrid over to the West Somerset coast via the Quantocks, specifically through Spaxton with a very short stop at Hawkridge reservoir. Mind you, it is little more than a puddle so lordy knows what problems the locals will get unless serious rain arrives!

Anyway, this has been my best thus far, in total a 700ft climb with just one get off and push for around 100 metres. Just after turning right towards Over Stowey at the bottom of the hill after the reservoir; jeez that bit was a killer. Stats show I burned around 700 calories.

I know it is not much when I read what others do; but creeping up to 60 years of age, I'm delighted. On-board pute suggested 22 miles as opposed to run keeper and Edmondo (that don't sound right) both at 23.5. Not fussed but I do have it calibrated correctly so not sure. It was a beautiful day, wind negligible, wall to wall sun all the way and face is tingling after a long warm shower. Yep, caught the sun despite pinching some Olay day cream before I went. (F15). Could have stopped so easily just before Holford Glen turning at the bacon butty wagon but I was tight on time. Smells like that should not be allowed when cycling PWOAARRRR!

Did it in just under two hours and again, I know not fancy but I'm pleased. Gives me something to move up to. On arrival at my friends old place, I was served with a cracking cup of tea. Wife was already there so stuck treadly in the back and drove home. My buddy Ken asked if I could cycle back. I thought about it then said actually yes! It would have been another 14 miles (I took the long round Robin route on the way); Wife said ... when are you going to grow up and act your age; you're nearly 60 for cripes sake. SOOOOOOOOO .... said I!

Anyway, with bike in car, I drove home really really pleased. Seems according to the scales that I have dropped another two pounds this week which brings me down to 11 stone 5lbs now. I had only ever intended to get down to 12 stone but still the LBS are coming off. I'm eating well, still partaking in a daily Large long G&T with corn chips prior to tea.

Two days off now as I'm bound for London to spend some time with my Uncle (he's almost 80), he still calls me his little Nephew  Much wine and food will be consumed whilst there and my dear treadly will remain cleaned and lubricated ready for a challenge on Friday.

Now which direction shall I go?

Cheers all

Bring your bike up to the Smoke, Mozzy, and I'll guide you on a Thames route. You might need to do some sobering up!

2lbs = about 1kg. In one week thats good. Keep it up and enjoy your cycling. One of the good things about cycling is that you can eat and drink without feeling guilty , or at least not so guilty as you would feel if you didnt do the cycling exercise.
