Does anyone get up and walk about half way through the film at the cinema?

Funny you should mention that. My boyfriend gets up and walks about half way through the film, he is getting on a bit and he says his arthritic bones hurt if he sits still for too long (fortunately he doesn't read this or I fear I may be in trouble for telling everyone that)

Some people do, and it is irritating!

Having said that, maybe short breaks should be inserted in the middle of films to encourage people to do so?

Professor Beverley Hunt said:
If you sit for 90 minutes or more at a desk, the blood flow behind your knees decreases by 50 per cent, significantly increasing the chance of a DVT. It is vital to take regular breaks every hour or so: get up, walk about, rotate your ankles and stretch out your calf muscles.

A worthwhile Daily Mail article!

That's a good idea.

They could employ members of staff to sell refreshments, iced cream in tubs and soft drinks, etc. They could have little trollies, or even just a tray, on a neck strap, that would make it easier to have free hands for taking money.

Hmmm, looks like someone has thought of it already!

What I remember was that there was always a 'B' movie on first, then the 'intermission', then the main feature.

What I am proposing is a short break halfway through the main feature since we don't generally have 'B' movies these days. (I'm thinking of super-long films of 2+ hours. 90-100 minutes straight through should be okay unless you have a weak bladder!)

Yes, I remember that too.

I find the really long films hard work, and try to nip to the toilet during the trailers as close to the start as possible, even though I'd have already gone when buying the tickets.

Long films watched at home would normally be paused two or three times to save trying to hold on unnecessarily.
