righty,

I'm getting married a month today and moving in with my better half, we've got a small terrace (the kind where the door opens into the lounge not a hallway) and have a mountain bike and a road bike each,

none of them are particularly desirable or valuable beyond the emotional attachment but i've no idea where they're all going to live!

anyone got any suggestions for where to store bikes that don't involve modifying the house, bolting things to walls etc as we only rent and aren't allowed to put shelves up etc

cheers

it does have a garden, there is a cast iron down pipe firmly secured to the wall of the house too - had thought road bikes secured to that and covered,

you can see them from over the back wall tho...

You're just going to get married so the answer is obvious. Keep them in the living room, you won't be using it much until next year anyway. You'll be spending most of the time in bed together . Fill that jar of beans*.

Congratulations and hope it goes well for you. After that sage advice shall I PM you my address to send the invite to? ;)

* According to the theory that you put one bean in a jar for every shag in the first year of marriage, and then take one out for every time for the rest of your married life.

How high are the ceilings in the place - you could simply hang them from the celiing.

How about 2 of these?

That looks the business...

Is this lounge your only reception room? If not, then just bung them in the lounge and use it as a utility room. Nearly everyone I know with a front room and a back room really only uses one of them...

For storing in the garden, you can buy metal lockable cabinets, which would keep the bikes hidden from plain view.

only stores 3 bikes though. Two could live indoors, two outdoors.

Too much time concentrating on old bones and not enough on arithmetic.

No, my arithmetic is fine. The two MTB's (say) could live together outside, and the two road bikes inside. You wouldn't split up couples, would you? One would get lonely.

the mountain bikes are worth a lot more and less likely to be used as often, thinking wheels off and under the stairs for those.

road bikes might have to live outside under covers.
