Looks good, but does the front wheel on the "trailer" steer/turn?

I'm thinking about the possibility of replacing my van with a Carla Cargo trailer, or similar.

There are four things holding me back:
* the occasional trips to London (once every few months on average) would leave my wife without the car (destination is a PITA to reach by public transport and I often have to take equipment with me). SWMBO is technically an essential car user but she hasn't driven anywhere on any of the occasions I've been away. Sadly she doesn't cycle.
* the current regular (25 mile each way) trips carting gardening equipment and tools to do odd jobs for the female parental unit. Theoretically possible, but the journey time is considerable
* finding space to store it; more feasible in a year or two
* as soon as I commit to it, it's just my luck our circumstances would change

The savings from not paying for 2x VED, insurance, maintenance and vehicular depreciation would be most welcome.

I need to get some real world indication as to whether the two battery version will handle the 50 mile round trip.

Range with two battery's is theoretically 80-100 km. It might just be within the realms of feasibility depending on whether you are optimistic or pessimistic.

Take your charger and top up while you're there?

That's what I'd do.
My old ebike would get me to work and back, just about, but I'd always charge it at work as well as at home.
