Never get one guinea pig..... they should always have another guinea pig to live with. My brother and mum are pretty passionate about their guinea pigs (I have nothing to do with them) ....but they are definately far more intelligent than given credit for ....so keeping one in solitary confienment would just be mean, and unfortunately, unlike some pets (like dogs) more than human company is required.....I serious reckon that guinea pigs do communicate...not as effective as speech, but very effectively.....and when one dies then the others are certainly extremely distressed (they wimper)

Another thing to watch out for with guinea pigs and little children is that fact that guinea pigs will not complain much at pain/discomfort .... so just because they aren't complaining it doesn't mean they aren't hurting.

I dont do english anymore........................

Anyway hamsters are nice pets. Ive had 2. One of them, my brother stook his finger near it and it bit him:laugh: It came out of the cage on his finger:laugh:
Great pets, not boring at all. Get them things to play with, they will come out and play before going back to bed, run around in a ball, you can make little runs for them and teach them stuff, and they are cheap.
My gunie pigs were in the house at first, and used to spend more time out the cage then in. Used to greet me in the morning and were funny. Not as funny as hamsters though.

Ahhhh......looks a real cute bunny.

My sister had a bunny and a brown and white guinea pig, I a guinea pig white hair with lots of rosettes in the fur. They really are intelligent little pets and a whole heap of fun. And we both cleaned out their hutches and runs regularly. When they died we cried nothing was quite the same again. Happy days.

Makes me think of Outnumbered where the little girl buries her rabbit if I remember, in the garden, full service as well, with the epitaph on the grave "Mummy killed my rabbit". Children can be cruel ;).

I would have thought you would be able to acquire a guinea pig alot more cheaply in the UK.
