Brief history; This started life as a bike I bought new in 1991 as a big yellow British Eagle BOSS. The frame was replaced under warranty a couple of years later with this. Not quite as fat or eye grabbing but still a bike that took me to all the extreme places that "hardcore" riders still go today. It was my wifes bike for many years after I got my GT in 94 so has barely turned a wheel in all that time unless my brother visited and needed a bike. Was destickered recently as we toyed with the idea of building it up for my son but it is too big and we have gone down the disc brake route now so is unlikely to ever be needed.
This is FREE to a forum member but is collection only from Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6. (a few miles east of Manchester)
What you get....
- The frame, 7005 alloy, replaceable gear hanger, 18" measured from centre of BB axle to top of seat tube
- Forks, steel with threaded headset
- Basic steel quill stem
- Steel handlebars
- Shimano cartridge bottom bracket (will be a UN54 or its predecessor)
- Classic Shimano DX cranks with a variety of chainrings that appear to be in reasonable nick (I can't remember any chainsuck problems)
- Cantilever brakes complete with all cables
- Unknown Shimano brake levers but the gear shifters have been hacked off so I guess these could be the original DX items.
- Seatpost and Q/R clamp (note additional nut on seatrail clamp as one bolt has threaded)
So, there you have it. I am trying to clear some space as this is taking up hanging space where a current bike could live and I have painfully come to the decision that I will be unlikely to put it back together for any of my family so it has to go. It is first come first served and if the lucky recipient has a spare 650x23c presta innertube about their person when they come to collect I will gladly take it off their hands
