So, I have an 80 mile round trip planned between Stockton and Robin Hoods Bay tomorrow. Everything is now in place and I have raised £727.98 (plus Gift Aid) for Macmillan Cancer Support in the process.

Feeling quite excited but also a little apprehensive as it's 20 miles further than my previous longest ride on the Triban 3. Looking forward to the RHB chippy though, ha ha.

Anyhow, I'm off to revise the route one more time. I'll post again tomorrow night to let you all know how it went.

Wish me luck.

Cheers,
Gary.

Also - I should say, I'm tinkering with an app on my phone that updates a Google map on my server so anyone who's interested can track my progress (assuming my phone plays ball of course!):

This address will give you the map once I start the ride : www.ccgeo.co.uk/tracker

Well done you, that's two big achievements, riding the distance, and getting the sponsorship signups. How did you manage to do the latter?
You'll be OK with the distance; you've done 60, it's only another twenty. Fluids and sweeties!

I would also like to know how it went.

I would also put my name down for future sponsorship rides from the Teesside area.

Ha ha... feeling knackered but chuffed today... I managed the whole ride, no walks of shame. Some of those banks just keep giving mind. The ride seemed much harder on the journey back, probably a combination of a decent headwind, long slow climbs and that fact that I was tired after the first half of the ride. Still, I would do it again, but not this year! Here are the route stats : http://www.strava.com/activities/75738419

Also feeling very chuffed that we've raised £812.98 (+ £178.75 Gift Aid) for Macmillan Cancer Support

Re sponsorships, I lost my sister-in-law, Alison, to Cancer in April so a lot of the sponsors were friends and family who knew her. Also, I find that Facebook works well - every time I received a donation I would post a thank you on my wall and tag the person in the post, this then means their friends get to see that they've donated which tends to generate a few more.

Only just saw this thread - congratulations on the 80 (you'll be doing 100 before you know it) and on raising money for charity.
