Another simple question no doubt, but I have been looking at the CBR 700c city sport urban. But I'm unsure about the strength of the type of wheels, been a bigger chap are these as strong and stable as the normal spoked wheel. Cheers go advance, mark

It's a fancy lacing pattern but it is a 32 spoke wheel so it should be as strong as any other 32 spoke wheel (which seems to the fashionable number for many bikes at the moment).

They look a bit strange. My thought would be if one of the no 1 or no 4 spokes went you'd have a tough job getting the wheel straight enough to complete the ride. Like Phil, I'm happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong though.

I'm not to struck on them TBH and they are the reason I haven't clicked "buy" yet however the bike is right within my budget and it does look nice apart from the wheels, I'm slowly putting myself off it as we speak, would any of you recomend a 700c hybrid for under 300 notes?

Having done a bit of a search to find out more it seems that CBR is a sub-brand of Claude Butler, whose current range doesn't feature these wheels on any model as far as I can see. To me that rings alarm bells so I'd suggest looking around at other models.

If your budget is up to £300 there's a fair bit of choice. The Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative range seems popular or Decathlon do nice bikes for the money. (The Riverside 5 is on offer at the moment).

I suggest you consider a Raleigh Detour 18.

Its going to be as good as the CBR for a lot lot less if you look.
Upgrade it with better parts at a later date.
