Can a standard axle (end diameter 8.5mm) be used in forks that take a 9 mm through axle (9 mm dia) ?
Will the 0.5 mm diameter make a differernce in locating the axle in the forks? (I suspect yes)
"standard" axle:
trhough axle
and are there adapters to fit to the standard axle to take it to 9 mm size? (make sense?)
UPDATE: some googling and mesuring seem to indicate answer is yes. standard front drop out width is 9 mm; shimano axle I measured comes up a little small.
rear axle width appears to be 10 mm.
