A chance to influence cycle facility design, at least on the small scale!

Not really sure if there is a better forum to place this, but the Braehead out-of-town shopping centre (West Glasgow) is going for a bit of a redesign and has submitted their first planning app. New / changed cycle facilities & routes are mentioned a few times within the copious docs:
http://planning.renfrewshire.gov.uk...&RIPNAME=Root.PgeAniteDocs&TheSystemkey=27398

I've not had the time to go through all the docs, nor am I an expert at cycle lane design, and this area is probably quite a challenge to do well - there's a lot of car parks and a lot of places with heavy traffic flow to and from the motorway, so it's not obvious to me how you'd make good cycle routes through it that tie up with the road system somewhere.

Some of the existing cycle routes are very poor in the area - eg. an on pavement cycle path, that just vanishes for 20m because the pavement isn't wide enough.

If anyone has the time, would probably be a very good idea to submit suggestions to both the Council and the developers? With it being related to a planning application, the Council are probably very happy for whatever detail suggestions they can just insist the developer follows (as for once it's not costing the Council money to up their green credentials!) and the developer will want their planning app approved so will be at the very least making a good pretence of taking on-board any feedback.

Does anyone know of anywhere that takes an interest in this kind of thing - would sustran or CTC have contacts that might like to be made aware?

There's a good chance your local CTC group will already be involved. You could try contacting them.
