Just thought i would tell you my Brooks saddle is 25 years old this summer.I bought it from Halfords on Vicar Lane ,Leeds in 1988.Long before they got their reputation.
It sits luvverly.I use it on my mtb along with the Carradice Longflap saddlebag.Which is also a good few years old.

They might have been,but i was new to cycling.I only started late 86 or early 87.The ground floor had motor car stuff and upstairs had cycle stuff.There were not many cycleshops in Leeds city centre at the time.Watson and Cairns were one and at a push Two Wheels Good on the corner of Briggate and Boar Lane could have been another.Harehills had two well known shops Bob Jackson (out of my league) and Drakes,I bought my first good bike from Drakes a 25" Raleigh Triathalon ,custard yellow in colour.A bike with 105 in those days.

I have my Dad's Brooks - he was using that from the early 1960s. It 'sits' on the stairs...daring me to try it!
It happened to be 'attached' to a Mercian with red and blue check detailing. After he died - it was dumped! (Yes, yes, I know... )

If you count Otley Chevin Cycles.Taddy is pushing it a bit Cyclesense.I think there is a bike shop in Crossgates.Can't think of anymore.Crosstrax in Adel

What happened to Bob Jackson?

Bob Jackson has closed down the retail shop and focusses on frame building. Woodrup Cycles acquired a lot of the shop stock from Bob Jacksons.

Vern, do you know what happened to Paul Tate who worked in the Bob Jackson shop? Is he working elsewhere in Leeds? I really liked him - incredibly helpful whenever I went in there.

I haven't got a clue. I found the shop at Bob Jacksons to be staffed by pompous pricks when I was re-entering the world of cycling.
Paul might well have been the exception to the rule.

Woodrup Cycles were far more welcoming and I initiated a long standing relationship with them which has paid dividends culminating in me owning the Chimera with the specifications exceeding the price that I paid for them.
