Anyone with a SunTour Vx? The cage is outside only, with no cage between the wheels to foul the chain. I suspect the double-sided-style won because it needs less thick metal for the same strength so is cheaper to make and the weight weenies will prefer it despite the drawback.

Ok, how about this. I decided to replace a rear brake cable on a Shimano STI shifter. loosened cable at calliper and tried pushing inner cable through, no luck. jammed solid - must be stuck in the outer. Eventually using needle nose pliers, tweezers etc, I managed to wrench the nipple and bits of shredded wire out of the shifter......only to find I was working on the front cable which was firmly attached at the calliper end!

Pah, both my 30 year old road bikes have internally routed rear brake cables.

So does my state of the art Raleigh Pioneer hybrid. It doesn't rattle either.
