Filled my car with petrol and for the first time it cost £50!

I ought to pedal into work a day or two per week but the money saved in petrol would be partly spent on pies :-)

I'm spending best part of £70 per tank full and it only lasts about 10 days.
I wish I worked closer to home.

I broke the £100 tank full at the end of last year.
(vehicle now gone and it's 'only' £70 to fill up the car now)

I filled my car up on the 28th Feb, and there is still three quarters of a tank left. Even better I didn't need my lights on cycling into work at 6.30 this morning

Medium sized diesel and it now costs nearly £70 to fill it, though I can make that last 3 months or more the amount I use it now  was filling it up every 4 weeks before I discovered cycling

I leave for work around the same time in the morning and it is nice not to need much in the way of lights - clocks change at the weekend so need to make sure batteries are charged and ready Monday morning.

On topic - £75 to fill up a Ford Focus! Luckily - under normal circumstances it's once in a month it needs filling. Unfortunately the situation at work means that I'll need to drive from Brizzle to St Albans a couple of times a week for the next few months and the current car mileage allowance will not cover the costs

£50 will last me a fortnight but I'm seriously contemplating cycle commuting a couple of days a week. I've just been seriously tempted by a very nice N+1 which could relegate my tourer/hybrid to commuter bike.

I've mentioned this before, but I did the sums regarding the price of petrol before Christmas and realised that by commuting just three days a week I would recoup the cost of the single speed I had by eye on within a year. This got the purchase past the finance dept (Mrs VC), I'm averaging 4 commutes a week and petrol has gone even higher so I'm very happy. So n+1 remains satisfied until they complete the new Leicester velodrome.

I put £75 in the other day, first time I had put petrol in since the operation and I couldn't help shed a tear as I walked to pay 10% of the value of my care on something that will run out in a few weeks!
