I bought some inner tubes from fleabay a couple of weeks ago from a shop. When they turned up I realised they were shraeder and not prestas. I didnt send them back, for the hassle of arranging postage and cost of getting to town to get them posted off and returned it didn't seem worth it.

Anyhoo I was sat there looking at them last week and thought I'd pop them back on the 'bay at a bargain price, the pair for a fiver. At least they'll be used I thought, and someone will get a bargain and I'll get half my money back.

Posted off this week, all good. Returns mesage from fleabay today, gentleman has received ok, but one of the tubes burst on fitting and would like replacement/refund:cry:

I think any thoughts of me being an ebay giant are firmly put to rest after one sale

It seems to be a recurring theme in my life that simple intentions end up as irritating complications. Anyone else?

wait! the tube burst when he was fitting it, so its likely his fault. why are you being asked to refund?

Yes i thought that. But as a new buyer/seller I don't want negative feedback for the sake of £2.50. And I'm sure he's messaged me in good faith (probably demonstrates again why I'll never be an ebay giant. ^_^)

In the early 90's I sold a car to a friend. Never again.
3 months later it wanted two front tyres. It was suggested that I should contribute. I didn't and suggested that there had been plenty of tread on them when sold and he might want to look at his driving style.
8 months after the sale it wanted some welding for the MOT - it was implied several times that I should contribute towards the cost as "I must have known". I didn't.
The following year, well over a year after I'd sold it to him, it developed an engine fault. Apparently I should have known about that too.

Send him a replacement, tell him he must have been using the wrong sort of air to fill the original one and ask if he'd like to buy some "proper bicycle air"

Puzzle game procrastinator!
So did we - too much buyer "protection" and refunds being given even when we could prove that items had been delivered to the address. Not worth the hassle.
I don't think that I have ever sold anything on eBay , and I would definitely be wary of selling anything valuable. As a buyer though, eBay is great! I got a really good smartphone for £85 (HTC One M8) and a very good 18-month old CAADX for about £500. Lots of other cheaper deals too.

Think I'll stick to only buying from now on too.

E-bay always side with the buyer, much to many honest peoples' disgust. Same as everything, the dishonest few spoil it for the rest of us.

Yep, there's quite a few scammers & fraudsters that take advantage of eBay's PR policy of pretty much always siding with the buyer, it should be a much more even handed process.
