I've given myself the best present, a day early.
As you may know, I gave up cycling due to ill-health over 6 years ago.
I got back in the saddle at the start of October, not really expecting too much, but willing to give it another go.

It's gone better than expected and I attribute a lot of that to the encouragement I've had on this site, so, thank-you all!
So, today I did my usual 12 mile ride. I was happy and relaxed, the conditions were just perfect (a tad cold).
On the way home, the usual monster awaited me. Yip, the cemetery hill.
Today, one day before my 50th birthday, I conquered it in one go! :hyper:

I also coped with the smaller inclines better than I have before, using lower gears.

I am so pleased and can't believe how much my fitness has improved in only 8 weeks or so!
Not even the cygnet on the towpath, who waddled up to me as I stopped for a drink and tried to bite my handlebars, could make this day anything other than fantastic!

Pity I can't have any :birthday: but I may celebrate tonight with a beer after my hot bath.
My knee is shouting at me ('cos it hates inclines) but it can go do one today!

Good result, and if that's you after 8 weeks, think how easy that hill will be in another 8. Have a good day tomorrow, and remember you're only as old as the woman you feel:thumbsup:
