The success story of capitalism is undeniable and less regulation usually means more growth. Also undeniable are the environmental and social effects caused by this wealth chase. What other options are there? Communism has it's fans but zinc buckets don't really count as an export? Hunter-gatherer? Something between these?

How would a working economic model really look like? Spaghetti?

A working economic model involves give and take.

You give, I take.

What you are describing here is socialism. Eventually I will run out of whatever the currency is here, let's say cakes for example. Options are that a) I will borrow cakes from my neighbour (and end up in debt) or b) I will cut the supply of cakes. Sooner or later your dependency on my cakes will cause you to a) bake your own cake (You would become a net payer, other people would want a good share of your cake.) b) riot.

There's a book called Prosperity Without Growth that talks about this sort of thing. I read it, but now I can't remember anything about it. Would their system work? Who knows?

Entrepreneur=between taker. I get in between and I take. When times get hard I take even more. This is to incentivise entrepreneurs because they wouldn't bother getting out of bed unless there were easy takings to be had.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
Our greed driven me me me me culture is just how humans are...doubt that will change although I'd like it to. I think the problem is what we are all chasing is wealth at any price basically...we don't care if planet earth dies , if children are exploited for cheap labour etc...all we care about is me me me me....and out of sight out of mind is an acceptable excuse/mindset it seems.

I think we could change our laws to highlight the price being paid for our convenience and greed. Have a label on every item detailing the oil consumption required to make, ship, sell that item etc....kinda like an oil health warning....why would any sensible person buy one item over another if it is the same, but has a higher oil use to make it?

I think what I want to see is 'responsible capitalism'. Not a free for all take take take society.

You mean like the growth in the banking sector....oh.

Think it was Marx that said capitalism is fundamentally flawed. To take the cake example:
I work in a cake shop and live on cake. To increase the amount of profit the cake shop owners make they must charge more or squeeze pay. I then can't buy as much cake, reducing the shop owners profits, so to keep growing they must charge more or squeeze further, reducing my cake buying ability further. Only way to keep cheescake on the table is credit, borrow more and more until I can't pay it back.
Recognize the cycle?

Not saying theres anything better and I'm curious if there actually is a model that works. Doubt it though.

Or sell more cakes.
But who to? They are now charging more and/or giving their customers (workers) less to buy more cakes with.
Unless of course they repackage the cakes and sell them to each other. Thus making a profit each time the now more valuable cake is is put in a new box and sold on. But no one would surely fall for that would they?

Of course there's always this. Please read 'cake' were it says 'cow'.
