A403 Avonmouth to old Severn Bridge

Can any Bristol cyclists tell me is the A403 a sensible route from St Andrews Rd Avonmouth to the cycle path that crosses the old Severn Bridge?

Im planning a ride from Avonmouth to Barry in South Wales.

I've not cycled that road so can't really say what its like on a bike - bit industrial. I'm assuming you chose that start point for the train station? If so and you don't mind a bit of a climb why not get off at one of the other stations like Sea Mills and go up through Blaise Castle Estate and on towards the Motorway junction but turn off before you get there and drop down to Easter Compton. Your route is definitely flatter than this route though.

But with any luck someone else more knowledgeable will be along in a mo. I keep meaning to ride over to Chepstow to visit friends.

Thanks for the reply. I have somewhere secure to leave the car in Avonmouth so that was really the main attraction of starting there .Not doing it untill September so will have a look at Sea Mills/Blaise Castle route on the map ,it certainly sounds a prettier route.
