I use Duracell rechargables, which I'm lead to believe are rebranded Eneloops
Only proved in the very early days, The ones I saw in my local supermarket look cheap junk.
Lower recharge cycles and some of them now only claim 6 months memory.

Saying tat, Alkaline and Zinc just self destruct on high power draw.

Been using Lidl's 'Tronic' brand AAAs for quite a while (don't know who actually makes them), seem pretty good, not noticed substandard life or any other problems. Shame they're only available now and then.
