If only people knew about acid / LSD they wouldn't go within a mile of it.

Well there's a coincidence!

The image is a reference to the day that Albert Hoffman invented, synthesised, then ingested one of the very first doses of LSD then cycled home tripping his nuts off in 1943, those paper acids came out in 1993 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of 'Bicycle Day'.

Also true of alcohol, tobacco, skiing, rock climbing, sheep, heavy machinery, mullet haircuts, Cliff Richard, firearms, and the 'Lost City' in Tipton. So how come no one wants to send people to jail for getting involved with any of those things?

[Not that that I'm advocating use of mind altering substances, just think that there should be a level playing field. In quite a literal sense.]

I used to love Hoffmans. Getafixes were great too. Never had any real issues with acid, some of my friends didn't get on so well with it, but I loved the stuff. I love seeing that avatar, takes me back!

Each to their own, I can see why the idea might scare some, but that's not to say that for some it can't be an amazing experience...

interesting fact about the pic, thanks. I did it back in my youth, yes i had bad trips, but i remember throwing up after drinking too much as well. Reading what it says about acid, and its pure:

The risks Top

  • LSD or ‘acid’ has very random, and sometimes very frightening, effects. Trips feed off a person's imagination.
  • If panic sets in, the experience can be scary and confusing. Bad trips can be terrifying.
  • Flashbacks sometimes happen. This is when part of the trip is subsequently re-lived after the original experience. (This usually occurs within weeks or months after taking the LSD but can be longer).
  • There's no evidence to suggest LSD does any long-term damage to the body or long-term psychological damage.
  • Avoid taking acid if you're in a bad mood. People have been known to harm themselves during a bad trip.
  • LSD could have serious, longer term implications for somebody who had a history of mental problems and may also be responsible for triggering a mental health problem that had previously gone undetected.
