Nope, not the venue for this summers family holidays...
I consider myself a pretty good rider, I can ride at pace, for a good period and cover some decent miles.
And I enjoy it...like, love it.
But the thing is, much of my day to day riding was gained from a 40mile commute. Even if I only rode to work a couple of times a week, this gave me a cracking chunk of exercise and training each week.
Last summer, I changed jobs and my new commute is only 20 miles. Adding to this, I travel a lot (I type this from schiphol airport) so commuting happens less and less.
The result...I now seem to struggle to ride anywhere near as far as I could last year and my enjoyment of "trying" is no where near as rewarding as "doing".
Don't get me wrong, i still love it and I'm not complaining, I just thought it might help for those who are also suffering a little, that it can happen to us all.
Plus...this bloody wind is a nightmare...is it ever going to leave me alone.
