Man fakes works by Jackson Pollock, flogs them for millions and spends a load of the ill gotten gains on buying a submarine. Fantastic!

Frankly it isn't a very interesting story. And this audience appears to be some metropolitan elite familiar with Mr Pollock's work. I doubt it would engage them

Hardly a clique old chap, I just thought it was quite fun that a guy faked some paintings and bought a submarine of all things with the winnings. Come on then, let's have your fish story.

You definitely can't call McGinty a member of the metropolitan elite......
More of the Ilkeston elite

Much as I tend to the modern art is Bollocks view (with a "b"), I do find Pollock's (with a P) stuff rather amazing and powerful.
I'd definitely take the bottom picture. Is it a "real" one or are you doing the Private Eye thing. I can't judge the top one as can't see it clearly enough - is it a piece of the same one.

Not a clue, I just put Pollock into Google and nicked a couple of pics.

There's something I don't get about "fake" paintings. If the fake is good enough to impress the viewer, conveying a real emotional response, then it's art in its own right.
Why is it any lesser because Fred Bloggs painted it, or any greater if Pollock or Picasso painted it?
Could it be the buyer isn't interested in art at all and it's really just about the money and conspicuous consumption?
