Ive been asked by a friend as to where would be the best place/web stie to go to to get a hardtail MTB for general riding with some light off road and family stuff.

I only really know road stuff so though where better to ask than here?

so far Ive suggested local bike shop and Decathlon,

Thanks in advance.

Go outdoors believe it or not, got rave reviews for their calibre two two. I've just had a look and it has a hell of a good spec for the money. At that price point it's amazing.

That is quite astonishing a spec for the money. Worth buying as a donor bike in fact for another frame.

Did you watch the video for it ^_^

Thanks guys.

Forgot about Go outdoors yet I've spent thousands in there over the years on camping equipment.

Try looking second hand. There are plenty of MTB's out there for sale and you can pick up a bargain. Plenty of people buy an MTB on an impulse and it often just gets slung in the garage and they hardly use it. This is the sort to go for rather than one that's been abused. Look on eBay, Gumtree and Preloved. Make sure you get the correct size though. Good luck.

My LBS sold me a Merida Matts 20-MD for 374.99, brand new, which mirrors the official Merida price. Perfect upgrade from my starter.
I'm now on a 40-D which is 474.99 (20 got written off). So new bikes can easily be bought brand new.
