I may have an oppertunity to update my bike. At the moment I have an old Trek road bike and I have been offered a newish Trek Alpha 1.1. It is a 58cm frame. I am 5'9" tall. Would this bike me ok for a guy my size?

I really dont know anything about bike sizes. I couldnt even tell you the size of the one I have got at the moment.....

Measure your existing bike: the frame size is the distance from the top of the seat tube to the centre of the bottom bracket. If there is a sloping top tube then it is more difficult as the size should be the virtual distance from a horizontal top tube. 58 cm would probably be the size for your height unless your legs are a bit shortish. At 5'7.5" I use a 55cm frame. You would have to try the proposed purchase before committing.

Friendly tip....
It can help get a better response to calls for help if you can include the query topic in the thread title, for example,' tyre choice help', 'camping stove fuel query', 'bike size advice wanted', etc.,etc...
I'm sorry I don't know enough about bike sizes to help you.
