Truth is, he's heading to the wine.

You'll need a new title for the book. 'Right turn, Clyde"

I dunno how Woodrup Bicycles climb mountains, but they sure seem to attract friendly people.
The Woodrup has attracted a lot of attention. The cycle shop owner in Mazuma waxed lyrical about it and c was most impressed with the world championship transfers on the end of the white panels denoting the fact that they have built bikes that have been ridden to victory in world championship competitions. The colour attracts attention as does the belt drive.

The folk in Washington State are naturally friendly and I'm currently having a great time with Greg's friends and neighbours. They'd be happy for me to stay around until I'm due to fly back.

I'm going to get some more cycling done though.

I'm awaiting maps for the Atlantic coast and Washington State before I plan my next moves.

Meanwhile it's back to exploring beers....

I'm getting suspicious, Vernon. Bike always in pristine condition...every time you venture forth on the freeway, you're suddenly in a pickup truck, getting into conversation with Chuck etc and getting 'invited round' for a quick bite to eat/chat which involves beer. There maybe mention of freewheeling downhill - usually ending up at a bike shop that has a bar, friendly folk thinking they have 'captured' a talking bear and want more of him...followed by the most difficult bit which is balancing beer caps at the base of bottles (only faux modesty prevents you from posting ALL the bottles and caps from each session!!!). Sleep occurs at some point, as well as 'the call of nature' - which, in this case is a selection of posts to CycleChat.

Bill Bryson - eat your heart out...Vernon's coming! With pie surveillance data gathered on this spying mission, the traditional English comestible is only a heartbeat away from invading the US -"Buy, buy my American Pie"
"Woodrups Pies - where only your waist will be belt driven".
Bonne continuation, Vernon. Here's a drum roll to munch upon.

I've family in Tacoma as well. My grandfather's brother set out walking from Illinois one day, and wound up stopping in Tacoma, because he ran out of country. I cannot imagine what that journey must have been like in the 1880's.
