I dunno, I think there's a limit. I'm no fighter and I can't think of many things that I'd rather be doing less than rolling around scrapping with some lunatic but I don't think I could stand there while someone continued to headbutt me, congratulations on your self restraint but they sound to me the sort of person that needs a good smack on the hooter, in fact they sound like the sort of person that should have had one a number of years ago.
This ^^^^^

& also law dictates that you have a right to defend yourself, if at the time you knew this could be proven then you could have smacked the fecker up good & proper.

I had this (near as dammit) explained to me by a 'professional' once when talking over stress issues.

"We are all just human animals, animals just like any other but with a greater ability (not the right word) for compassion, love, fear, hatred, anger" etc, etc.

"In the wild animals employ fight or flight mechanisms just as us human animals do under extremes of pressure" etc, etc.

So while one person might run, another might fight until death if necessary & another might curl up in a ball & take a beating, or stand there & take a few strikes in this case.

No one is to say which is right or wrong & we all make a choice, fight or flight.

The thing is , he didn't hurt me enough in the attack to get me angry . Its a non fighting environment and there where people there with their kids gardening . All I wanted to do was calm him down to be honest .
Its taken a good few years for me to learn to keep my temper under control and I'm very pleased with myself for the way I acted .
Gotcha.

Children being there makes a difference too, but obviously not to angry gardening dude.
