With amber it's generally not safe if you could only stop after the line, or the person behind you couldn't stop in time.

If a car was up my arse and I was driving I'd feel it was safer to continue on (and no doubt they would follow), but on a bike you are less likely to clear the junction in time. I'd hate to be in the situation where a HGV was close behind, safer to continue or stop? At least the aston martin has good brakes...

In all cases the situation is the fault of the driver behind not giving a safe distance but you generally have to make a split second decision when lights change at a certain distance, and at least on the driving exam you are meant to check mirror before changing speed to take into account those behind.

It's a horrible feeling especially nowadays when you think you were only just right to go through, and 2 cars have followed!

what a clown!

amber == stop ffs and if a bike can stop then that aston can..

he should get reported , that use of the horn isnt legal....

[edit]

mind you , if that vid got reported, the bike riding while on a phone crossing the pedestrian crossing would probably get crucified ;) (*)

(*) no helmet either ;)

Don't think a helmet would help much in the event of a crucifixion either. Track mitts and overshoes, maybe

I did ask the driver what amber meant meaning to stress that it meant stop. However, I think it was more potent to challenge him on his own terms. Frequently, telling someone that they're plain wrong just makes it easier for them to dismiss anything that doesn't tally with how they already see the world.
Thanks Angelfishsolo, but I don't think I made him look like an idiot...

Ben! You tinted the driver's tan a shade or two I suspect. I agree with your comment about the sheer effort needed to keep 'on top' of things in London (and elsewhere, I'm sure.). Hope you're well and things are going your way. (Apart from Aston Martins of course ).

This will be one of those cyclist I have read about in London, flagrantly obeying traffic lights and delaying hard working motorists from jumping the lights and denying them the chance of hitting a cyclist coming across the other way.

Would have been amusing (but not really) to see him get punched with those poncy shades on.

Wow, he must have a tiny penis.

I used to like Aston Martins, but I've gone off them now if that's the kind of tosser that drives them.
